I think our slides were the simplest, most chic and minimalist modern out of all the presenters yesterday. It's so us and what our catamaran represents. And it did help that our renders were simply AWESOME.
The only other group that was really good were the submarine guys. They did a really, really great job considering no one had ever had to design subs in previous years. And no wonder Damien's secured his job at the ASC --> read, Australian Submarine Corporation. How cool is that? I reckon it was Kim who did all the mind blowing renders. And Jay explaining the trim polygon? Nice job man. Respect!
A few of the guys had trouble with Jason's mouse. LOL! And no one was using any pointers! I think his group had the best slides too. but the content was so boring. You know how it is with all this military stuff. Their renders I think Joe worked on. They were really good. Liked Dean's laid-back style of presenting :)
Okay content wise- The superyacht group practically bombarded us with a ton of information but in a really entertaining way. Most entertaining but their slides were kinda comical which they wanted it to be. And I really envy them for handing in their yacht assignment on time since, unlike us, they got the structures figured out since way back when.
Did I leave anyone out? oh the landing barge? No comment. Seriously their slides were bordering on too simple. All of them did a good job though. I didn't get to see Richard and Hamish present their fishing trawler..coz we've been doing that every year. And we were busy practicing our final run. oh did I tell you we were the only group to suit up!? Like a boss. Austal represent!
Breaking it down:
Ben was in charge of hull-forms, the Rhino model and hence the weight estimate generation
Troy did all the hydrostatics and damage cases, extracted the 2D model layout from Rhino into AutoCAD to do the General Arrangement and general project planning
I did similar vessel studies, structural calcs to DNV and Excel spread sheet generation shared with James. The green research, Engine selections, some of the IMO Green passport stuff, schematics.
Outboard profile which is still on going. And Seakeeping.
James was the Excel guru. Rudder and manoeuvring calcs.
On to the Final Report and tearing the report to bits. Yeah. Can't wait. It's called sarcasm. Deal with it.
O. to the V. to the D.
Boom baby!
